OMAHA - The #5 ranked St. Cloud State Huskies picked up a much needed win on the road with a 5-3 victory over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks on Friday night.

Kalle Kossila led off the scoring for SCSU with his ninth goal of the season. Omaha would strike back in the second with a goal from Josh Archibald to make it 1-1.

The Huskies and Mavericks would go back and forth through the second and third period. Joey Benik scored two goals for the Huskies in the second in his first game back from injury. Dominic Zombo and Zahn Raubenheimer both scored for the Mavericks to make it a 3-3 tie in the third.

Senior defenseman Kevin Gravel would score the game winning goal for St. Cloud State at 16:38 in the third. Brooks Bertsch would add an empty net insurance goal for the 5-3 victory.

Omaha outshot St. Cloud 34-30 in the action. Goalie Ryan Faragher made 31 saves for the Husky win.

St. Cloud State improves to 14-5-4 this year. They take on Omaha Nebraska again at the CenturyLink Center on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.
