The 9th ranked Gopher men's basketball team defeated #18 Michigan State 76-63 at Williams Arena in their Big Ten opener Monday.  The Gophers finished the game on a 22-4 run.  Andre Hollins led the Gophers with 22 points with Rodney Williams adding 15 points and 6 rebounds and Trevor Mbakwe chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Minnesota shot 57 percent while MIchigan State shot 44 percent.

The Gophers are 13-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten.  The 9th ranked in this week's Associated Press poll is the highest ranking since 1997.  Michigan State falls to 11-3 overall.  The Gophers host Northwestern Sunday night at 6pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:30.
