John Anderson – “I Wish I Could Have Been There”

 

 

This song was written by John Anderson and Kent Robbins.  It was released in April 1994 as the fourth single from Anderson’s album ‘Solid Ground.’  The song is about a man wishing he could have been around his family more often including the birth of his daughter.

When our baby Kate was born it was the biggest day of my life lying there little bows in her hair.

 


 

Alan Jackson – “Summertime Blues”

 

 

“Summertime Blues” is written by Eddie Cochran born in Albert Lea, Minnesota and Jerry Capehart.  Cochran recorded the song in 1958 and made it a top ten pop hit.  Alan Jackson recorded the song for his 1994 album ‘Who I Am.’ It was released in June 1994 as a single and reached number one on Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.

Well I’m gonna raise a fuss, I’m gonna raise a holler about workin’ all summer just to try an earn a dollar.

 


 

Trisha Yearwood – “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl)”

 

 

Matraca Berg and Alice Randall wrote this song and recorded by Trisha Yearwood.  Released in June 1994 from the album, ‘Thinkin’ About You.’   The song became Yearwood’s second number one hit on the Country music chart.  The song tells a story of a young woman who has dreams and ambitions of becoming successful in a man’s world.

Phone rings, baby cries, TV diet guru lies, good morning honey, go to work, make up try to keep the balance up between love and money.

 


 

Pam Tillis – “When You Walk in the Room”

 

 

“When You Walk in the Room” written by Jackie Deshannon.  Pam Tillis, the daughter of Mel Tillis, recorded the song for her 1994 album, ‘Sweetheart’s Dance.”  Tillis’ version was released as a single peaking at number two on the country chart.

I can see a new expression on my face; I can feel a strange sensation taking place.

 


 

Randy Travis – “Whisper my Name”

 

 

“Whisper my Name” was written by Trey Bruce and recorded by Randy Travis.  It was released in June of 1994 from the album ‘This is Me.’  This love song went to number one for one week in July of 1994.

I heard a freight train out across the way, I heard a woman sing “Amazing Grace.”
