Donna Fargo – “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA”

A pop and country music song written and recorded by Donna Fargo. The song was Fargo’s debut single.  The song became a number one country hit in the spring of 1972.  The song was at number one on the country chart for three weeks and also won the CMA Award for “Single of the Year.”

Shine on me sunshine, walk with me world it’s a skippiddy doo da day.  I’m the happiest girl in the whole USA.

Sonny James  – “When the Snow is on the Roses”

This song was originally recorded by Roy Drusky in the late 1960’s as an album cut.  “When the Snow is on the Roses,” which is a ballad, became Sonny James’  22nd number one song on the Billboard Magazine Hot Country Singles Chart.

Now the golden sun can see us kiss every summer day.

Waylon Jennings – “Good Hearted Woman”

This song was written by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in 1969. While staying at a motel in Fort Worth, Texas, Jennings was inspired to start writing the song when he saw a newspaper ad promoting Tina Turner as a “Good Hearted Woman” loving  two-timing men.  Jennings recorded the song for the first time as the title track of his 1972 album, “Good Hearted Woman,” the single peaked at number three on the country chart. Waylon and Willie recorded a duet version of the song in 1975 that was later included in the album, “Wanted the Outlaws.”  The song went to number one on the hot country singles chart.

George Jones – “A Picture of Me Without You”

“A Picture of me Without You” is a country classic song written by Norro Wilson and George Richey.  George Jones originally recorded the song — his version, topped-out at number five on the hot country singles chart.  Lorrie Morgan covered the song in 1991.  The song is about a guy telling his lover to imagine incomplete thing,s like a world where no music is playing, a church where nobody’s praying, a sky with no blue and by seeing this, she can see his picture without her by his side.

Tom T. Hall – “Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine”

Tom T. Hall wrote and recorded “Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine” and released it in November of 1972 on the album “The Storyteller.”  The song was Hall’s third number one single.
