Crystal Gayle – “Our Love is on the Faultline”

Crystal Gayle was born Brenda Gayle Webb on January 9, 1951. Gayle accumulated 20 number one country hits during the 1970s and 1980s. She is also famous for her nearly floor-length hair and was voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine in 1983. “Our Love is on the Faultline” is a relationship song .  Here are the opening lyrics:

Well I hear it comin’,
I can feel it in my bones
and its weighin’ heavy on me,
like a sack full of stones.

George Jones – “Tennessee Whiskey”

It will soon be the first anniversary of the death of George Jones on April 26, 2013. Jones, the peerless, hard-living country singer who recorded dozens of hits about good times and regrets, had one of the most golden voices in country music. In 1983, he recorded “Tennessee Whiskey” which peaked at number two on the country charts.

You’re as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey,
you’re sweet as strawberry wine,
you’re as warm as a glass of Brandy
and I stay stoned on your love all the time.

Janie Fricke – “He’s A Heartache (Looking For A Place to Happen)”

Janie Fricke was born in 1947 in South Whitley, Indiana. She's best remembered for a series of country music hits in the early to mid 1980s. Fricke won the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1982 and 1983.

Well you can’t deny how good he looks,
couldn’t find another on the cover of a book.

Mickey Gilley and Charly McClain – “Paradise Tonight”

Charly McClain and Mickey Gilley recorded “Paradise Tonight” as a duet. The song was written by Bill Kenner and Mark Wright and was released in June 1983 as a second single from the album "Paradise." The single went to number one for one week and stayed on the country chart for thirteen weeks.

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard – “Pancho and Lefty”

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard are both country living legends. “Pancho and Lefty” is a folk song written by Townes Van Zandt. The song tells the story of a Mexican bandit named Pancho and a more enigmatic character Lefty.

Living on the road my friend
is gonna keep you free and clean,
now you wear your skin like iron
and your breath is hard as kerosene.
