The Kendalls –- “It Don’t Feel Like Sinnin’

Just when close harmony singing was nearing its end in country music, the father/daughter duo of Royce and Jennie Kendall — The Kendalls — put it back on the charts.  The idea of a father and daughter singing suggestive lyrics to one another was a little too much for many industry sophisticates to bear.  But the fans loved it.  Royce past away in 1998 from a stroke on May 22nd, just prior to a show in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Shenandoah –- “Two Dozen Roses”

Shenandoah was one of a number of contemporary country bands to emerge in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  Shenandoah’s “Two Dozen Roses” was released in August of 1989 as the fourth single from their album, “The Road Not Taken.”  The song is about a guy trying to change his lover’s mind about leaving him by offering to give her two dozen roses.

Alabama –- “Born Country”

Alabama first operated under the name of Wild Country.  They changed their name to Alabama in 1977.  When the Academy of Country Music named Alabama “Artist of the Decade” in 1989, it reflected how thoroughly the band had dominated commercial country music in the eighties.  Let’s listen and watch, “Born Country” a 1992 top ten hit.

Restless Heart –- “Why Does It Have to be Wrong or Right”

Restless Heart helped to establish the connection between mainstream country with light country rock that leaned heavily on smooth harmonic blend.  Last year, Restless Heart marked their 30th Anniversary, they went on the road with their “30 Years and Still Restless” tour.  Let’s watch and listen to “Why Does it Have to Be Wrong or Right” number one in June of 1987.

The Bellamy Brothers –- “If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me”

The Bellamy Brothers was  a country music duo consisting of brothers David Bellamy and Homer Bellamy from Florida.  Their first country hit, “If I Said You Have A Beautiful  Body” was number one for three weeks in April of 1979.
