Throughout the month of February 98 Country is honoring Gilbert Grossman of Baxter for his courage and service during World War II.  Gilbert, thank you so much for serving our country!

Gilbert was nominated by his daughter, Christine, who had this to say about her dad:

My father is one of the few World War II veterans yet living and, despite living 92 years and counting, people mistake him in his vivacity for 70.

He served at Normandy with the Army Radio Corp as a Staff Sargeant, storming the French beaches on D-Day.  His unit became decorated for service.  On the Jubilee of Liberty Day, the French government awarded him a commendation for his service to the French people specifically, and Europeans in general.

Today, he is amazingly healthy and vital.  He spends time volunteering at our church pre-school, where he also sings bass in the senior choir.

I'm nominating my dad because I'm afraid he has not always gotten all the credit he deserves over his very long lifetime.
