The Minnesota Vikings (5-7) became just the fifth team in NFL history (and the first since 1975) to block two punts and return them both for touchdowns in the same game, en route to a 31-13 thumping of the visiting Carolina Panthers (3-8-1) this afternoon at a frigid TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
According to the Vikings Journal, the Minnesota Vikings made their final cuts today to reach the 53-man roster by this afternoon's NFL deadline. Defensive tackle Fred Evans, running back Joe Banyard, and cornerback Chris Crocker were among those released by the team.
The Minnesota Vikings and defensive end Jared Allen officially parted ways over the weekend. The move is no surprise, and I think it was time for the relationship to end. Just seemed to me that his production was way, way down last season. This should be an interesting free agent week.

The Vikings routed the Rams in St. Louis 36-22 Sunday. Adrian Peterson ran for 212 yards including an 82-yard touchdown. Peterson is now 294 yards away from Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record.
Viking defensive end Everson Griffen missed practice Thursday after he was informed of the sudden death of his mother. Coach Leslie Fraizer said Thursday that police arrived at the team's headquarters on Wednesday to inform Griffen of the news. The details of Griffen's mother's death were not immediately known. Sabrina Scott has been visiting her son in Eden Prairie when she suddenly died Wednesday.
