Astros Avoid Sweep With Win Over Twins Wednesday

The Twins made a late comeback but fell one run short in a 6-5 loss to the Houston Astros Wednesday afternoon. Minnesota took two of the three games in Houston.

Liam Hendricks struggled on the mound as Minnesota's starting pitcher, allowing five runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings pitched. Hendricks needed 98 pitches to get just those 13 outs.

The Twins trailed 3-0 after just one inning but tied the game on a single swing from centerfielder Alex Presley in the top of the third inning with a three-run home run.

Minnesota fell behind again and trailed 5-4 going into the ninth inning, but Ryan Doumit smashed a leadoff home run to tie the game.

However, Brian Duensing could not keep the Astros off of the board in the bottom of the inning. Trevor Crowe singled home the winning run with one out.

The Twins are off Thursday and will host the Toronto Blue Jays for a series this weekend.
