This weekend, George Strait walked onstage at his Kansas City, Mo. show to meet 18,000 fans eagerly awaiting his performance. The country music veteran stepped up to the mic with his guitar and went through the motions of starting a show, just like he knows so well how to do. But after two songs, the seasoned talent had to cut the show short, admitting he was too sick to continue.
At the Universal Music Group label luncheon show at Nashville’s Country Radio Seminar Wednesday (Feb. 22), George Strait surprised the Ryman audience with his guest appearance — but fellow star Vince Gill had a surprise of his own. Before launching into his song ‘The Red Words,’ the ‘Threaten Me With Heaven’ singer told the audience, which was full of radio personnel, that he was performing that day as a thank you to radio, since he is no longer an MCA recording artist (part of UMG).
Sara Evans joined Rascal Flatts for the first couple months of this year for their Thaw Out 2012 Winter Tour, along with opening act Hunter Hayes. The tour made a successful run and wrapped Feb. 18 in New Jersey. And while the most of the excitement may be over, Evans still has much to be excited about. As a thank you for a tour well done, Rascal Flatts gave their female co-star a gift to help her thaw out, and from Evans’ reaction on Twitter, the surprise present was much appreciated.

Blake Shelton fans will be excited to learn that on Season 3 of NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ when one of those iconic red chairs swivels around, their favorite country papa bear will still be sitting in it. Maybe it really is true that you just can’t do it all. At least that’s what ‘Red Solo Cup’ singer Toby Keith seems to be discovering. After making appearances in the movies ‘Beer for My Horses’ and ‘Broken Bridges,’ Keith says he’s throwing in the acting towel for good — but not because he didn’t enjoy it.
While people across the country are enjoying the sight of those colorful flowers on their desks today or ruing the number of chocolates they indulged in yesterday, Miranda Lambert is likely having a hard time keeping her eyes off the newest addition to her right pointer finger.
Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, and whether that makes you want to skip with joy or skip straight to the next week, who doesn’t appreciate a little mushy love stuff now and then? This week, idolized country couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill offered up a list of some of their favorite things to Allure’s Daily Beauty Reporter. Speaking of her own picks, Hill mentioned a gift McGraw gave her after the birth of their first daughter — even though it had her pretty nervous for a while.
On March 17, Reba McEntire will release her first televised concert special in more than 15 years. The 90-minute special, ‘All the Women I Am,’ will premiere on GAC. Encompassing the energy of McEntire’s live show, much of the footage for the TV special will come from her recent concert at Louisiana’s Cajun Dome, where the longtime performer had a film crew come along with her and roll tape.
At Saturday night’s Jason Aldean My Kinda Party Tour show in Champaign, Ill., one fan was trying to have his own kinda party — but he wasn’t able to stay in the audience long enough to see it to a good close. With Aldean at the back of the University of Illinois assembly hall to join Luke Bryan on an acoustic set, the drunken fan began losing his cool, which is visualized in the video below. Country radio station B104 was in attendance at the show and came back with the juicy details.
