The Band Perry are stepping forward to pay for the burial of a mom and eight children who tragically passed away in a house fire in Greenville, Ken. on Thursday (Jan. 30).

The mother, LaRae Watson, and eight of her children, ages 4 to 15, died Thursday, while the father, Chad Watson, and his daughter, 11, survived the fire and are being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. They are in stable condition, according to CNN.

"I don't know why the Band Perry reached out to the family other than they are just very gracious," a friend of the family, Pam Burden, shares. "The family doesn't have any personal connection to the band before now."

Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry are strangers -- paying for the family's funeral is simply a compassionate act in a deeply sorrowful time.

The country trio's representatives contacted the Watson family, offering to cover all the expenses, including hotel costs for family members staying near Vanderbilt. The Band Perry's publicist, Brian Bumbery, confirmed the band's offer.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, as an electric baseboard heater in the bedroom seems to have ignited nearby combustibles.
