Summer time is hands down my favorite time of the year. There is such a wide variety of fun things to do in the summer with your friends and or family. But if you ask me, my number one thing to do in the summer is swim! Here are some of my favorite places to go.

Swimming LessonsSWIMMING LESSONS THROUGH COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES

St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, & Sartell

I think swimming lessons are something every child should go through. Not only will they learn the basics of swimming, but also how to stay safe in and around the water. Swimming lessons will also give parents piece of mind knowing your child can swim.

St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, and Sartell all offer swimming lessons through their community ed program. The cost is low, and really, it's a small price to pay to help keep your kids safe in the water. And when the kids are  safe everyone has more fun!

ScHROEDER PARK AND CAMPGROUND

Cedar Lake - Annandale, Minnesota

Schroeder Park has one of the nicest and cleanest beaches in central Minnesota. I go to this beach all the time in the summer because the beach is huge, and the swimming area isn't weedy!

They have many options for entertainment throughout the park as well, such as:  sand volleyball, a large playground, grills, picnic tables, hiking trail, fishing pier, and large restrooms. Schroeder Park also has a large campground if you want to make a whole weekend of it.

So trust me, if you have never been to Schroeder Park, go check it out, it just may become your new favorite beach!

BECKER COMMUNITY CENTER

Becker, Minnesota

This is the perfect place to take the kids swimming on a rainy day. The Becker Community Center has a huge indoor water slide , a normal pool, and a kiddie pool complete with a mushroom fountain!

The Becker Community Center also offers birthday packages. If your child has a summer birthday this is a great place to celebrate. We all know Minnesota summer weather is unpredictable, this way you can keep the kids happy with all the fun water activities without having to worry about the weather. I still remember the birthday party I had at Becker Community Center when I was a kid.

A day full of fun activities at the Becker Community Center will definitely make some great memories.

QUARRY PARK

Waite Park, Minnesota

This is one of those places that feels like a 'secret locals place' ... you know, like in Hawaii the locals have their secret surfing spots they don't share with tourists, well that's what I think of when I go to the quarries.

Quarry Park is a large body of water surrounded by cliffs made of rock and granite. So if you are a dare devil this is the perfect place for you to spend a hot summer day jumping off the many cliffs. But no worries if you would rather relax in the water than cliff jump, there is plenty of room for both!

Warner Lake

Clearwater, Minnesota

Warner Lake is one of the closest beaches to St. Cloud that offers more than just sand and water. I spent many summers on this sandy beach growing up, with both my friends, and my family and I have plenty of memories from those summers.

One of the great things about the beach at Warner Lake is the way it's surrounded by trees, not only does that make it scenic but it also offers shade to different parts of the beach depending on the time of day. So if someone in the family doesn't want to spend all day in the sun, they can still come along and be down on the beach with everyone else.

Warner Lake also offers a playground, grills, a large grass area, nice restrooms, and a small campground.  All of which, will make your day at the beach fun and relaxing!

So that's my list! Now all you have to do is pack up the car and round up the kids (or your friends) and enjoy the water!

Did I miss your favorite place to swim? Let me know where you like to cool off in the summer sun.
