Darius Rucker and Usher Added to Blake Shelton’s ‘Healing in the Heartland’ Benefit Show
Blake Shelton‘s friends are turning out in droves to support the ‘Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert’ that the singer has organized for his home state of Oklahoma. The town of Moore, Oklahoma was ravaged by a tornado last Monday (May 20).
Other artists that have boarded the show include Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts and OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder. Fellow Okies Vince Gill and Reba McEntire, as well as Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert, are also on the bill.
The show is completely sold out. It will take place Wednesday, May 29 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City and will be televised, airing at 9PM ET on NBC, as well as on an assortment of other networks, such as Style, G4, Bravo and E!, on either a live or delayed basis.
“Everyone has their way to help, and mine as an entertainer is to perform to help raise money and awareness for this tragedy,” Shelton said upon announcing the event. “This is why I want to do this special and especially hold it in Oklahoma City, which is near ground zero.”
Proceeds from the benefit show and telethon will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund. United Way of Central Oklahoma will work with local partners and use the the money to support immediate, intermediate and long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in Oklahoma.
