The 49th annual ASCAP awards went down last night (Nov. 6th) at Nashville’s Opryland Hotel honoring country music’s writing and publishing community, and Brad Paisley took home the biggest award of the night.

Brad was named songwriter/artist of the year, and this wasn’t the first time he won this coveted award, he first took it home back in 2004.

Ben Hayslip is a huge songwriter in the country music business, and he was honored last night for writing five of the most performed songs of the year, including: Blake Shelton’s ‘All About Tonight’, ‘Farmers Daughter’ by Rodney Atkins, ‘All Over Me’ by Josh Turner, and Joe Nichols ‘Gimmie That Girl’ and ‘The Shape I’m In’.

The writers for Miranda Lambert’s ‘The House that Built Me’ took home the ASCAP for Country Song of the Year, and Jennifer Nettles was another country artist who got an ASCAP Award for writing Sugarland’s ‘Stuck Like Glue’.

Don’t forget, another big awards show airs Wednesday night on ABC, the CMA Awards! They are my favorite show of the whole year, I am super excited!
