#13 St. John's (9-1) hosts a first round NCAA Division III playoff game this afternoon against St. Scholastica (10-0) at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville. The Minnesota Gophers (7-3, 4-2) are on the road today, taking on the 21st ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-2, 4-2) in Lincoln.

Becker & Holdingford Win State Football Titles

The Becker Bulldogs claimed the MSHL Class 4A Prep Bowl Championship yesterday at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis by topping the DeLaSalle Islanders 24-6. The Holdingford Huskers were crowned Class 2A champs for the first time since 1981, with a double-overtime win over the BOLD Warriors 20-18.

Vikings Claim Running Back Ben Tate Off Waivers

The Minnesota Vikings have claimed veteran running back Ben Tate off waivers, after being cut by the Cleveland Browns. Tate rushed for 124 yards against the Titans earlier this season, but has only averaged 2 yards-per-carry since that game. With Adrian Peterson out for the season, the hope is that Tate will help fill the void.

The NFL has suspended Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson without pay for at least the remainder of the 2014 season. In a 3-page letter, NFL commission Roger Goodell detailed the league's reasoning. It is expected that Peterson will appeal the suspension immediately.
