CentraCare Health Provides Safe Trick or Treating Tips [VIDEO]

ST. CLOUD — With Halloween tomorrow (Thursday), and many kids out on the streets, CentraCare Health is advising parents and children to stay safe.

CentraCare Health Pediatrician Andrew Maloney says children have a greater chance of being hit by cars on Halloween than any other night.

“The biggest mode of injury for children on Halloween is car accidents, because there are more kids out on the streets.”

Maloney says there are some helpful tips that will help keep your children safe on Halloween night.

“Wearing bright colored costumes, making sure the costume isn’t down by their feet, bring a flashlight, and of course check their candy before they eat it.”

If you are worried your child will eat too much candy on Halloween, Maloney says having them eat a big dinner will help keep them from snacking.

Maloney says there are alternative instead of just handing out candy.

“Things like crayons, pencils, pens, small toys, raisins and things like that are other good ideas if you are looking at that route.”

CentraCare Health hopes these tips will let everyone have a safe and happy Halloween.
