“Chicken Pickin’ Guitar Solos” Led To Keith Urban Being Fired From A Heavy Metal Band

30-years-ago, Keith Urban was 15-years-old and got fired from his friends band after his guitar solos were too "Chicken Pickin'". If the heavy metal band "Fractured Mirror" is still playing local bars, I'm sure they're kicking themselves for firing Urban after about one week. Urban, who doesn't seem too hurt from the firing, talked about it on Conan O'Brien (see video below). Urban said the heavy metal band would play songs from Judas Priest, Scorpion and Black Sabbath. Urban said,"So we'd play a Judas Priest song, and they'd throw me the solo, and I'm doing all these chicken pickin' guitar solos," and that ultimately led to his first identity crisis and firing, but I think it worked out pretty well for him in the end.
