Could Yet Another Chicken Chain Be Coming To St. Cloud?

CAN YOU SAY CHICKEN?

It's hard to believe that another chicken chain is thinking about coming to Minnesota, but it's true. A chicken chain called Pollo Campero, which debuted in Minnesota in St. Paul in 2010 is planning on opening its second location in Brooklyn Center, but that's not all. They are planning on opening up 10 more restaurants across the Twin Cities area.

The family-owned restaurant was founded in Guatemala City back in 1971. The restaurant Pollo Campero turned into a global chain all across Central America.

The company's VP, Blas Escarcega, said in a recent interview that the company is wanting to sign a new franchisee who would develop five locations in the next five years. Feel like going into the chicken business?

CENTRAL MINNESOTA COULD SEE MORE CHICKEN

Some of the locations that were mentioned for expansion included cities here in central Minnesota. Rogers, Monticello, Forest Lake, and Elk River have been named as possible new locations for the restaurant chain. St. Cloud? Will they find their way here?

THE SIDES

What makes them different than all the other chicken chains across the US? They say Pollo Campero has unique side offerings including some foods I've never heard of. Yuca fries? These are an alternative to traditional french fries and are supposed to have a 'nutty' flavor, sweet plantains, beans, and herb-focused rice, along with some that we are quite familiar with like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and of course, french fries.

They say the main draw is going to be their deliciously seasoned fried chicken.

WHAT ABOUT ST. CLOUD?

Surprisingly, with all the fast-food chicken chains that have opened in the last decade here in St. Cloud, I don't believe any of them have closed lately, so maybe we do have more room for another chicken chain. What do you think?
