Each Wednesday at 8 a.m. I join Cindy and Doug for the Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we are featuring John Anderson.

John was born December 13, 1954 in Apopka, Florida.  He discovered his love of music at a young age and played in a rock band until he turned 15.  He developed a taste for country music after hearing music from George Jones and Merle Haggard. John moved to Nashville in 1971 where he worked the club scene and pursued his music career.

His hard work paid off in 1977 when he signed his first record deal with Warner Bros.  His first top ten hit was in early 1981, when his song "1959" went to number seven.

John Anderson's vocal sound and songs have a distinct and modern sound while remaining family rooted in the honky-tonk music styles of the 1950's.  He has had a successful career that has lasted more than 30 years and has charted more than 40 singles, with five of them going to number one.  He has also recorded twenty-two studio albums.

John has been married three times and now lives in Smithville, Tennessee with his third wife Jamie, whom he married in 1983 and has two daughters.
