Each Wednesday morning I join Cindy and Doug for the Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we are featuring Lynn Anderson.

Lynn was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on September 26, 1947.  Her mother, Liz Anderson was from Roseau, Minnesota and was best known for her songwriting talent.  Shortly after Lynn’s birth her family moved to California, where she was raised in the Sacramento area.

Lynn was always very photogenic.  As she got older, she found lots of work on local and network TV and stage shows.  Her interest in singing started when she was a young girl but her first success came in the horse arena.  Over the years she won over 700 trophies including the “California Horse Show Queen” title in 1966.

Lynn married twice and is the mother of three children.  She currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee and regularly headlines shows at major casinos and performing arts centers

You get a chance to see Lynn Anderson in person next week at the Paramount Theatre downtown St. Cloud, April 8th and 9th at 1:30 p.m.  Her signature song, “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden,” remains one of the biggest selling crossover hits of all time, having been number one on the country charts for five weeks in 1970.

Tune in today at 8 a.m. for the Country Classic Flashback on 98 Country, sponsored by Midwest Machinery with 9 locations including Sauk Rapids.
