Each and every Wednesday I join Pete and Cindy for the Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we feature Tracy Lawrence.

He was born in Atlanta, Texas and attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas.  He started out at a country music restaurant called Live at Libby’s where the owner Libby Knight would help local talent find their way into country music.

Since arriving on the country music scene in 1991 with his debut single, Sticks and Stones, Tracy Lawrence has established himself as one of the most popular country singers of the 1990’s.

His career and his life almost ended before his career even began.  The singer was shot four times in a hold up in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Hall of Fame near Nashville’s Music Row.  Fortunately he made a full recovery.

In 1993 he was named Top New Male Vocalist by the ACM.  With all of his success in 1994, he experienced a run in with the law when he fired a gun during a dispute with some teenagers in Tennessee.  He was charged with reckless endangerment with a firearm.

In January of 1998, Tracy was convicted of spousal abuse, for which he received a misdemeanor and a fine.  Married twice, he is now 45 years old.

Check out the video below for a fun Q & A with Tracy!
