Alan Jackson has held many jobs in his lifetime — including car and furniture salesman, carpenter, homebuilder, garage worker, forklift driver at K-mart and mailroom worker at TNN.

When he was 16, his parents bought him a $50 guitar, which he still owns.

In high school, Alan played “Barnaby” in the musical Oklahoma.

His first band was named Dixie Steel. The name came from the side of a box of nails.

Alan has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1991.
