"Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" was written the day after 9/11 and was originally titled "The Angry American". The first verse describes how his father was injured while serving in the army but never held it against his country. The rest of the song goes into the hurt and anger Toby Keith is feeling as an American due to the attack on our nation.

When Toby Keith was just out of high school he played Defensive End for the Oklahoma Drillers. He played for them for two years but didn't like the semi-pay to get just as injured as the pros. He felt he got it out of his system and could now concentrate on his music.

Toby's pal (still in hunting gear) asked a girl to dance. She took one look at him and said no. Not long after she said no to the invitation to dance, a man in a cowboy hat and cowboy boots asked the same girl to dance and she accepted. Toby told his pal that he "should have been born a cowboy".

Active military can get a free burger at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar. One just opened in June at The Shops at West End in St. Louis Park.
