Did you try a new diet in 2012?  I did. We started a Biggest Loser type of contest here at the radio station several weeks ago and I jumped on board.  This time, I thought I would try something completely different. Eating right and exercising. Crazy, I know.

But if the obvious isn't the way you like to do things, here are some diets that have worked for others, and were most googled in 2012.

1. At 4000 calories a day, the Michael Phelps diet might not work for everyone. However, if you're an Olympic athlete, go for it. It was probably the most googled diet because people were curious. Not a great weight loss plan.

2. The Beyonce diet. Again, people googling what a celebrity is eating. She said it's more about mental strength than physical strength.  And, I might add,  much easier when you're a bazillionaire and have a personal chef.

3.  Dr. Oz called raspberry ketones "the number one miracle in a bottle,"  and the rest, as they say, is history. Raspberry ketones stimulate the production of a hormone found in fatty tissue that improves our ability to metabolize fat. Studies show that thin people have higher levels of adiponectin than overweight and obese people. You might want to read up on it before jumping on the raspberry bandwagon.

4. The P.I.N.K. Method was designed specifically for women, and stands for "power, intensity, nutrition, and kardio."    One doctor said that even in the best circumstances, many of the claims are overstated and not based on research, so check it out before you get started.

5.The Adriana Lima diet. According to sources she drinks a gallon of water a day. For nine days before a fashion show, she will drink only protein shakes -- "no solids." The concoctions include powdered egg. Two days before the show, she will abstain from the daily gallon of water, and "just drink normally". Then, 12 hours before the show, she will stop drinking entirely.  Sounds pretty healthy, huh?  Pass the brownies. I'm okay with never being a supermodel.
