Ever since Miley Cyrus' uh, interesting, 2013 MTV VMAs performance, there has been lots of talk about the pop princess and her sanity. But godmother Dolly Parton isn't worried at all.

Despite the country icon's vast knowledge of the music business, Parton doesn't push her opinions on Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter. Instead, she is simply there for her if Miley needs some advice.

“If she needs my opinion on something, I will surely give it and there have been times we’ve talked,” Parton tells the London Evening Standard (quote via Entertainment Wise). “But I would never dream of calling her and saying, ‘Well why are you doing this?’ or, ‘You shouldn’t do this or that.”

The country music legend isn't worried about Cyrus' twerking, or her constantly visible tongue. Parton knows there's a reason behind the madness.  “I know she has thought this all through," she explains. "We’ll let her go and do her own thing.”

With all of her wisdom, Parton is also sensitive to Cyrus' young age and what it takes to be a celebrity at such young age. “It’s not easy being young,” the icon says of Cyrus, 20. “You’ve almost got to sacrifice your damn soul just to get anything done.”

If Parton does call up her goddaughter anytime soon, we're sure the 'Wrecking Ball' pop star will take her godmother's advice. She's confessed in the past that she thinks of the buxom blonde as a role model.
