Texting, e-mailing, or reading while driving is illegal in the state of Minnesota.

Today distracted drivers are the target of law enforcement across the state.

Nearly 400 agencies have stepped up patrols today with the intent to ticket drivers who are wrongfully using their cell phones behind the wheel.

And yes, it still counts as driving if you are stopped in traffic. So don't get any ideas about texting or checking your e-mail at that red light that always takes forever, or if you are stopped in rush hour traffic on your commute home.

20 percent of all crashes annually are caused by distracted drivers, that is equivalent to 350 injuries and 70 deaths every year.

Stop texting and driving - to keep yourself safe, and the other drivers around you safe.
