Dunn Slams Sox Past Twins

Adam Dunn was robbed of a home run on Monday, was able to hit one on Tuesday, then hit two on Wednesday in a 9-4 White Sox rout of the Twins  at Target Field.

Twins starter Mike Pelfrey was roughed up in four innings of work, lasting just four innings and allowing five runs on eight hits to take the loss.

Pelfrey’s tough start was particularly disappointing because the Twins spotted him a couple of runs in the game’s first two innings and appeared to have Sox starter Dylan Axlerod on the ropes.

Josh Willingham plated Joe Mauer with a base hit in the first inning to give the Twins the early one run lead, and Eduardo Escobar smacked a solo home run in the second to make the score 2-0.

The lead wouldn’t last long.

Adam Dunn smacked his first home run of the game with a runner on base in the third inning to tie the game at two. Pelfrey served up another home run in the fifth inning to Dayan Viciedo that gave Chicago a 3-2 lead.

Dunn added another RBI on a double in the fifth inning followed by a Viciedo sac fly to increase the White Sox lead to 5-2.

The Twins scratched a pair of runs across in the sixth inning on a Jamey Carroll single and Josh Willingham groundout to cut the lead to one, but the Sox stormed back with three runs over the next to innings to seal the win.

Jeff Keppinger plated a pair of Sox in the seventh with a double and Dunn added another two-run bomb for Chicago to cap the scoring at 9-4.

The Twins have Thursday off and will host Boston on Friday night.
