Yesterday afternoon I opened up my refrigerator in search of something to snack on and found nothing but diet soda, beer, juice, water and condiments. So I decided to head over to the local farm stand in the Kohl's parking lot, to stock up my fridge. Check out a couple of clever things I like to do with my fresh fruit!

I currently live in an apartment, so I don't have the luxury of growing my own fruits and veggies in a garden. So instead of going to the grocery store to buy produce that's been shipped in from another state, I love to go to the local farm stands so I know exactly where my produce is coming from.

Yesterday I picked up a watermelon, blueberries, peaches, and sweet corn. I couldn't help myself it all looked too good! Plus I had a couple great ideas for my blueberries and peaches. Which reminds me, that's the whole reason I'm telling you all about this, so here they are:

When you get your blueberries home, give them a good rinse. Then portion out the berries (to your desired serving size) into small plastic containers or baggies, and toss them in the freezer. It's that easy! Now all you have to do is grab them on your way out the door in the morning for a healthy snack!

These peaches make for a great summer dessert that's easy enough for anyone, and tasty enough to impress everyone. Peel one whole peach per person, place each peeled peach separately into a small bowl or container. If serving adults, pour Asti or a Mascoto over each peach until about 1/4 of the fruit is sitting in the liquid. For kids you can use sparkling juice. Then place them in the fridge for 6-8 hours and serve.

I told you this was easy! Trust me, if it was difficult or time consuming I would never try it! Make sure to stop by one of the local stands around town the next time you need fresh produce. It's a great way to help support our local community!
