Tomorrow marks the 3rd Annual Give to the Max Day in Minnesota. Last year over 42,000 Minnesotans gave during the Give to the Max Day and raised just over $10 million for Minnesota charities. Give to the Max Day is a chance for you to give money to charity and have it stretch as far as possible.

What does that mean - make your dollar stretch? With the Give to the Max Day with GiveMN, all funds are collected securely online. That means there are very little overhead costs to organizations. For example, each dollar you donate to your favorite charity has some of it taken out to help fund the organization - paying for staff to continue to raise funds, pay the light bill, send letters to ask for donations, etc. With it all being online, there are none of those costs. So for every dollar you give, only a few cents are taken away for costs - therefore more of your donation is used directly to fund what your charity of choice does.

Give to the Max Day was created in 2009 as a way for organizations to raise a lot of money in a very short amount of time. Charities can get matching sponsors that will match your donation and the Minnesota Community Foundation is even stepping up to offer hourly matching prizes up to $10,000.

When you log on, you can select which charity you would like to receive your donation. If you aren't sure of an organization, you can search for charities that match your interests. You simply put in your city and what type of organization you would like to donate to and up pops a list of all the organizations in that area that you can donate to.

A minimum donation of $10 is required, but there is no maximum on donations. So donate a little, donate a lot - donate to one, donate to multiples - the biggest message here is to GIVE.

Start giving at givemn.org and know that your donation is greatly appreciated!
