Playing in their first New Year's Day bowl game since 1962, the 25th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-5) fell to the 16th ranked Missouri Tigers (11-3) 33-17 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

It was a back and forth affair, before Missouri pulled away late in the fourth quarter. Minnesota quarterback Mitch Leidner was 21 of 31 for 260 yards and a touchdown. David Cobb was Minnesota's leading rusher carrying the ball 21 times for 80 yards. Tight end Maxx Williams was the leading receiver for the Gophers with 7 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.
