Help…I’ve Never Been Ice Fishing!

I've been fishing twice in my life, but never in the cold of winter...so needless to say as a novice angler, I need some tips for the Brainerd Jaycee's Tournament this Saturday on Gull Lake.

On the plus side...I already have my own ice fishing pole, courtesy of my former Colorado roommate who got married and left it when he moved out! And I guess another plus is I'm not that bad of a fisherman. Of my two fishing trips in Kansas & Georgia, I caught a five foot carp in Manhattan's Tuttle Creek Reservoir when I was 9 years old! The jury's still out if I'm gonna like ice fishing or not...but I promise I'll give it "the old college try" this weekend! Being born in Northern California near the Pit River Gorge, I do have a desire to fly fish one day...and hopefully do it as good a Brad Pitt :)
