Huskies Stopped By Quinnipiac [AUDIO]

It didn't take long for the Bobcats to draw first blood against SCSU, with Jordan Samuels-Thomas beating Huskies goaltender Ryan Faragher for a soft goal at 1:49. Samuels' power play goal was his 14th of the season and was assisted by Russell Goodman.

Quinnipiac made the score 2-0 when Ben Arndt beat Faragher at 5:07 of the opening frame. Arndt was assisted on his ninth of the season by Samuels-Thomas.

QU would get one more before the end of the first period with Jeremy Langolis notching his 13th of the year from Zach Davies at 11:19 to make the score 3-0. The Bobcats scored on three of their first four shots on net.

Huskies senior forward Drew LeBlanc said the team came out a little flat.

Coach Bob Motzko echoed that sentiment.

SCSU outshot Quinnipiac 13-9 in the opening period.

SCSU's Joey Benik scored his fifth goal of the postseason, after scoring just three during the regular season, at 6:25 of the second period to cut the Bobcat lead to 3-1. Kevin Gravel and Cory Thorson were each given assists on the goal.

The Bobcats answered back with a Kellen Jones goal that made the score 4-1, which would be the final score. Huskies head coach Bob Motzko said after the game that the fourth goal was devastating.

SCSU again outshot QU in the third period, this time by a 12-11 margin for a total of 25-20.  Final shots on goal were 34-28 for SCSU.

The Huskies finish their historic 2012-13 season with a record of 25-16-1. Captain Drew LeBlanc says it will take some time before he can reflect on, and appreciate, the run the Huskies had this year.

Quinnipiac improves to 30-7-5 and will play ECAC rival Yale on Saturday night for the national title.
