The #12 St. Cloud State Huskies (12-1) pulled off another upset, stunning the top-ranked Division II team in the nation yesterday, outscoring Minnesota State (11-1) 54-48 yesterday afternoon in Mankato. SCSU quarterback Phillip Klaphake threw for four touchdowns and ran for two more. The season-ending loss was MSU's only of the season.

St. Cloud State advances to face Northwest Missouri State (12-0), a 45-21 winner over Minnesota-Duluth yesterday, this Saturday in Maryville, Missouri; advancing to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA playoffs for the second time in school history. The Huskies first advanced in the 1989.

SCSU has played at Northwest Missouri one time in the program's history. St. Cloud State opened the 1988 season with a 41-0 victory in Maryville.
