I might have gotten a better grade, but I know my understanding of more complex math wouldn't be any better.

It's probably a good thing teachers/professors do not allow students to have their smartphones out when they're taking a test because this app would make it so everyone passed.  I think it's cool that someone was able to develop this and it could be an incredible tool if it's used properly, but I also think it's going to do a huge disservice to those who already struggle with math.

The app, called PHOTOMATH, allows the user to point their camera on a math problem and it will instantly give you the answer.  Teachers caught on to earlier schemes and made it so you have to show how you arrived at that answer.  The app will help you out with that too, as it gives you each individual step you must take to get the correct answer.

It is pretty amazing what you can do with your phone and I understand not everyone needs the complex math, but there's a bigger issue here. An app is not the answer for everything. You're not going to learn anything by having a machine do it for you. In reality, I think this is ridiculous because I don't know too many kids that would use this as a tool instead of a quick way to get the right answer on their homework.

Do you think this app will be helpful for students or just an easy way to get homework done faster?
