Memorial Day is one of my favorite holidays for many reasons.

First and foremost, it's about recognizing our service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and who have (and will) put their lives on the line for our freedom. They're an incredible group of people who don't get near the recognition or benefits they deserve. When you're out and about this weekend thank a veteran -- I guarantee it will mean the world to them.

Second, even if the weather isn't good, we're still getting warmer and drifting away from winter! It means being able to do things outdoors and getting some sunshine.

It's also the time for barbecues and family gatherings, which is one of the things I've got planned for the weekend. Each year we go to Princeton on the Sunday before Memorial Day to visit the graves of my grandparents. We visit with extended family and have lunch. It's a fun time and something I look forward to every year.

What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?
