The past few days have been a whirlwind for Jake Owen. You might have heard the unfortunate buzz that the hitmaker was temporarily handcuffed in Florida over the weekend — but that’s old news. The latest talk surrounding the ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You’ singer is his early morning wedding to fiancee Lacey Buchanan.

And thankfully, that news is much better. Owen and Buchanan took their nuptials on the beach in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. on Monday morning (May 7), exactly one month after he proposed to her during a hometown show. And while the engagement may seem short to many, the country star assured fans that he couldn’t be happier with his brand new bride and that it’s meant to be.

“A best friend for life. I now have a wifey … my face hurts from smiling,” he shared via Twitter. “What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life.”

Mr. and Mrs. Owen tied the knot at sunrise, which was the country star’s idea as a way to symbolize the dawn of a new life together. The pair didn’t deviate from their initial plan for a private, beachside “I do”, either. The ceremony was family only, and Lacey’s sister Leah was her maid of honor, while Jake’s twin brother Jarrod served as best man. Owen’s uncle, Ron Owen, officiated.

Although the engagement was short and the ceremony was exclusive, Buchanan still managed to score a designer dress for her big day. The bride wore an Amsale gown and veil, while the groom kept things casual in a white linen Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants. Both were barefoot during the breathtaking oceanside ceremony.

Immediately following, the couple and their families enjoyed a cake and champagne brunch at the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa.

“I’m looking forward to being a husband, someone his wife relies and leans on,” Owen told People. Buchanan added: “He gives me so much love, that it’s the best place of my life, and having the commitment of marriage means everything.”

The newly-wed Owens will take a honeymoon to start off their marriage, and shortly after they return, the popular country singer will hit the road with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. You can catch that show at Target Field on July 8 with 98 Country!
