The Minnesota Vikings, who already lead the NFL in player arrests since 2000, have added to their total thanks (again) to wide receiver Jerome Simpson. Already serving a 3-game suspension for a DUI arrest -- Simpson has been cited on charges of marijuana possession, an open bottle, and violating the conditions of his restricted drivers license.

UPDATED 6:04 PM CST:  The Minnesota Vikings have announced they have released Jerome Simpson.

With no Super Bowl wins, but a league-leading 44 arrests since 2000, the Vikings could be accused of 'piling it on' after Simpson was stopped in Bloomington on July 7th. Simpson avoided jail time on the initial DUI arrest, but a judge will decide if Simpson violated his probation in the latest set of circumstances.

Jerome Simpson is serving the second suspension of his career. He sat out three games after first signing with Minnesota in 2012, resulting from a DUI arrest while he was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Simpson's latest suspension was scheduled to end following Sunday's game in New Orleans. How long he'll be out now is anybody's guess. He is currently in a one-year contract with the Vikes.
