Flooding at Harriet Island in St. Paul forced A Taste of Minnesota out of its home and it was in danger of being canceled, but organizers say that another location has come through in the clutch!

A Taste of Minnesota organizers say that flooding nearly forced them to cancel the event this year, but Carver County, in the western Twin Cities has stepped up and offered the Carver County Fairgrounds as an alternate location.

‘The Taste’ had long been held on Harriet Island, and attendance had dwindled at the free festival after it was moved off the State Capitol grounds and to Harriet Island. Increasing violence, high parking fees and high food and beverage prices also kept a lot of people (myself included) away. Now, after a three year hiatus, A Taste of Minnesota is back.

The festival, which features nearly 30 Minnesota food vendors, craft brewers and entertainment from the likes of Starship featuring Mickey Thomas (July 4), country star Joe Nichols (July 6) and local favorites Soul Asylum (July 3) runs July 3-6 at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia.

Personally, I think they should have it there every year because it's closer to us that way!
