Over the years, St. Cloud Hospital has been ranked among the top hospitals in the state. And now I understand why.

Yesterday, Jay had his left shoulder replaced. And I can't say enough good things about the team that took such good care of him. Starting with his surgeon, Dr. Hwang. Not only did the surgery go well, but Dr. Hwang is a nice guy. That goes a LONG way with me, and I'm guessing it goes a long way with a lot of other people as well. He came to see me right after surgery to let me know how Jay was doing, and what to expect. But the teamwork started long before Jay was rolled into surgery.

There were amazing nurses and assistants. The pharmacist stopped by to talk about meds. Someone from the lab took blood. The anesthesiologist sat down with both of us to explain everything, and made us laugh a lot in the process. And everyone, from start to finish, took care of Jay with smile on their face. I thought about that as it was happening.

We got there at 6 a.m. -- and some of the staff had most likely been there long before that. It made me appreciate the kindness they showed Jay, and the time they took to explain everything to a patient who was pretty nervous.

Later, when I was back home, Jay sent me a text. Looks like they continued to take good care of him long after I was gone. It was Thursday Night Football night. Sometimes it's the little things we do for people that makes the difference. Thanks to everyone at St. Cloud Hospital for taking good care of Jay!
