Lady Antebellum Set First-Ever Ping Pong and Songs Fundraiser
While Lady Antebellum are well-known for their music dynasty — with loads of hit songs and millions of records sold — they are also masters in something in the non-music world: ping pong.
In fact, Lady A’s Dave Haywood says he and bandmate Charles Kelley are known as the ‘the Dynasty’… at least when it relates to ping pong. Apparently, the trio’s favorite backstage hobby involves a little table tennis, and they’ve found a way to combine the ping pong table with music and philanthropy.
According to a press release, the band has set the date for their first-ever Ping Pong & Songs event, which will include a ping pong tournament and an in-the-round-style songwriter’s night. At this charitable event, Lady A will play music and raise money for their initiative, LadyAID, which generates support for children in need on a local, national and global level. Haywood explains, “This is really a dream day for us … getting friends and fans together to play ping pong, play music, and raise money for LadyAID.”
Tickets for this event, which will be held in the one and only Music City, will go on sale on Friday, February 15 at 10AM CT through Lady AID’s website. Players will receive a commemorative player kit, as well as two tickets to the finals and concert portion of the event.
In the meantime, fans better brush up on their ping pong, because as Haywood remarks, “‘The Dynasty’ … will challenge anyone who wants to try and take us at the table. It’s going to be a total blast.” While you may have a difficult time beating the dream team, you can be sure that wherever Lady A is, fun will follow.
Perhaps we can challenge ‘the Dynasty’ to a little pinging and ponging this summer at the Taste of Country Music Festival? The trio, with a very pregnant Hillary Scott, will be doing good there, too — for country music fans’ ears, at least. That event runs June 13-15 in Hunter Mountain, N.Y. Buy tickets here.
