Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman is teaming up with Smithfield to ask fans to give to those less fortunate this Christmas season.

The singer and cooking show host joined Smithfield on Tuesday (Dec. 9) to lend a hand to those in need by donating 30,000 pounds of protein to the Food Bank for New York City. The donation is part of Smithfield's Lend a Ham program, which, according to a press release, "seeks to alleviate the high demand for protein during the holiday season with protein donations to food banks around the country."

For every post on social media through Dec. 24 that includes the hashtag #LendAHam, Smithfield will donate one serving of protein to a local food bank in need. Their goal is to donate a million servings.

Schlapman's got plenty on her plate this season. Little Big Town are among the nominees in the 2015 Grammy Awards. Their recent single, 'Day Drinking,' is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Schlapman also hosts her own cooking show, 'Kimberly's Simply Southern,' on GAC TV.
