Lynn’s Thoughts on the Record Breaking Movie ‘The Hunger Games’

YouTube.com

The Hunger Games‘ opened in theaters Friday and it shattered records for both best non-sequel and non-summer openings of all time. The epic film brought in $155 million over the weekend which also makes it the third highest domestic film opening. The only two films that have it beat are last summer’s ‘Harry Potter‘ finale and ‘The Dark Knight‘. So what did you think of the movie? Here are my thoughts…

I read all three books about a year and a half ago, I was sucked in immediately and it only took me 6 days to read the popular series. The books were without a doubt an incredible read. The movie on the other hand….was good.

They really did a good job keeping the movie true to the book as far as the plot and main events go, and even the actors that were chosen to play the main characters were really good. The one thing that I didn’t like was when I realized that the majority of the book takes place in the main character, Katniss Everdeen’s head. It revolves around her thoughts and feelings, and that’s something they couldn’t show in the movie. So essentially you are left to assume how she feels about certain situations based on her actions, and in this case it changes the story.

I saw the movie with a couple people who had not read the book and they thought the movie was fantastic. I also had someone with me who had read the books, and like me, she agreed that the whole thing had a different feel to it. So it’s not like the movie was bad, at all, like I said before – it was good, it just wasn’t great.

Whether or not you choose to go see the movie is up to you, but no matter what you choose I highly suggest you read the books.

So what are your thoughts?
