For women all over the world, the diagnosis of breast cancer is news that none of them want to hear. The terrible part is breast cancer affects more women than most of us even know about. Martina McBride's new song has quickly become an anthem for anyone that has been affected by breast cancer.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the efforts are in full force to raise money to help fund research, aid those those that can't afford treatment and gaining support for those that are afflicted by this deadly disease.

Martina McBride's new album Eleven is in stores now and contains I'm Gonna Love You Through It. A song written about a woman with breast cancer and the battles she endures.

Martina joined forces with General Mills last week to not only promote her new album, but raise awareness for breast cancer with Pink Together Campaign. With stops in various cities, Martina's Pink Together Amtrak Train brought awareness across the country and Martina was on hand to light up the Empire State Building and turn it pink on Friday night. She also made history by becoming the first artist to ever perform on top of the Empire.

You can make strides to battle breast cancer this weekend. The American Cancer Society will hold their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Saturday at SCSU. Registration is at 7am and the walk begins at 9. Get your team together, or just come and walk, and don't forget to wear pink!
