MINNEAPOLIS - Joe Mauer hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run second inning, as the Twins downed the Royals 7-1 on Saturday.

It was Mauer's first home run of the year, an estimated 415-foot blast to right-center field. Mauer finished the day 2/4 and now has his average up to .267.

Starter Ricky Nolasco had the longest outing by a Twin so far this season, going eight innings and only allowing one run off of five hits.

The Twins improve to 5-6 with the win, they'll go for the sweep against the Royals on Sunday afternoon. You can hear all the action on AM1240 WJON with pregame at 12:40 p.m.
