Let's face it, the things we learned in school about Christopher Columbus were either not true or greatly exaggerated. Did Columbus really "discover" America?

Minneapolis could be joining other states and cities who have renamed Columbus Day. And this isn't about changing history. It's about correcting the inaccuracy of the whole story.

My personal take on it?  Christopher Columbus was a not-very-nice-man who got in a boat, got lost and accidentally stumbled upon our shores. He then claimed to have discovered a new land (total lie, there were already people here) not to mention he murdered countless people along the way. Hero explorer?   Not in my book.

And, changing the name of the celebrated day? This has absolutely nothing to do with being politically correct. It has to do with doing what's right.
