Having lived very near "Amish Country" in Pennsylvania for many years, I was used to seeing buggies on the road, handmade quilts for sale, and many other signs of Amish life in the country. But I didn't realize there were parts of Minnesota where you will see much of the same.

A visit to Minnesota Amish Country is now on my bucket list. You'll find the largest settlements in the southeast corner of the state, near Harmony and Canton. You can buy fresh bakery items and produce on area farms. And in Lanesboro, you'll find shops filled with Amish furniture, baskets and the popular handmade quilts.

Further north, near Wadena, is Minnesota's oldest Amish community. Plus, the Amish Country Co-op Farmers Market in Bertha is a must visit for anyone looking for hand-crafted, local Amish goods.

I could fill my home with beautiful Amish crafts and wood-work. And maybe after a few trips to one or more of these locations, I'll do just that!
