An 88-foot white spruce was loaded up and hit the road today on it's 2000-mile trip to Washington, D.C. where it will take its place as the National Christmas Tree at the U.S. Capitol. The tree was harvested from the Chippewa National Forest near Cass Lake, Minnesota.

The tree will be on tour of sorts, making thirty stops along the way to the nation's capitol. The lighting ceremony will take place in early December. The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe held a blessing ceremony before the tree took to the road.

One of the tree's stops along the way will be at a Cleveland Brown's football game. Poor tree.
