Miranda Lambert fired up her engine for tonight’s 2011 CMA Awards, performing her current single, ‘Baggage Claim,’ with little visual baggage to fall back on.

Dressed mostly in black — with the exception of a silver rhinestone belt at her midsection — Lambert stood on a dark stage with minimal lighting effects, except for standard airport screens which ran the landing schedule on her left and right. Old suitcases and trunks were scattered behind her, surrounding her band, and of course she had her signature pink microphone. But for the most part, the newly-married hitmaker let the song speak for itself.

As the hit track built up to the bridge, so did Lambert’s spunk — and coincidentally, so did the heat. Near the end of the song, the stage walls surrounding the performer burst into high flames, which caused the audience to erupt in cheers.

Lambert is nominated for the hefty Female Vocalist of the Year prize at the 2011 CMA Awards.
