Christmas is something Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton look forward to -- and not just because everyone and their mother happily anticipates the holidays in light of cookies and eggnog, or that you get to tear open expertly wrapped gifts. The couple is so busy with their respective burgeoning careers that they view the holiday season as time to slow down and reconnect with one another. As it turns out, Shelton is also a big decorator. Who knew?

Of the season, Lambert said, "It's our light at the end of the tunnel. We can stop rushing around and just be together." If anyone deserves time to themselves, it's this twosome.

The 'Fastest Girl in Town' singer also revealed that her hubby "loves to decorate the house" during the holiday season. He also peruses magazines for suggestions on what cuisine he'd like to eat... meaning food he wants his his wife to whip up. "Blake likes to pick food out of a magazine for me to make," Lambert revealed. "Last year it was gourmet mac 'n' cheese. It took me three hours."

Christmas downtime (when she's not cooking), red and green decor and gourmet comfort food aside, Lambert did offer a little insight about what makes her marriage work, as she and her funny husband approach almost two years of wedded bliss. The most important element of their relationship is the fact that they are good friends.

"We just have fun together," the blonde bombshell said. "I think romance and love stories are great, but at the end of the day, you've got to be friends."

Amen to that, sister!
