Miss America Contestant Is A Sergeant With A Tattoo

The Miss America Pageant doesn't get the same amount of attention that it did years ago, but this year there's a little more buzz. That's because one of the contestants will be putting both of her tattoos on display during the bikini contest!

Theresa Vail is Miss Kansas. She's also a Sergeant in the Kansas National Guard and she has two tattoos. And she's not worried about covering them up for the Miss America Pageant!

Here's what she had to say about it: "Why am I choosing to bear my tattoos?" she writes. It's all about "empowering women to OVERCOME stereotypes and break barriers. What a hypocrite I would be if I covered the ink. With my platform, how could I tell other women to be fearless and be true to themselves if I can’t do the same?"
